Allergy update

Some of you may have seen my post on Facebook last week after Katelyn's appointment with the allergist. Here is an update - After skin testing being negative for eggs, oats and sesame, the doctor ordered a RAST panel (blood testing) for all the same foods before doing any food challenges. The bad news is that her egg levels were very high, so there will be no egg challenge this year. :( We were so excited about this possibility, but of course we want to keep Katelyn safe, so we'll wait another year. Oats and sesame were completely negative, so the doctor gave me the thumbs up to give Katelyn oats at home, and we have a food challenge for sesame scheduled for March 30th. Katelyn is very excited about oats since I eat oatmeal every morning and she is always asking to have some. :) Another encouraging note is that her milk levels have dropped drastically since last year. Not enough to warrant a food challenge, especially since the skin test was positive, but it is great to see the levels dropping. Maybe next year we'll be ready for a food challenge! :)

Too bad about the eggs, but that's exciting the levels are coming down on several foods. Hope she enjoys the oatmeal! :)
